The Navigators Ghana ministry has played a very vital role in shaping who I’ve become today, especially when it comes to my spiritual and moral formation. I will attribute it mainly to the ministry of The Navigators Ghana, although other ministries also contributed to that. I must admit I have been deeply shaped by the core values of The Navigators Ghana.
Growing up as a child, I remember I used to attend Becky’s Good News Club when I was very little. I believe those were the beginnings of my Christian journey. I didn’t get born again at that time, but at least I heard about Christ and was introduced to the Christian faith at an early age.
Along the way, during high school, I gave my life to Christ. From that time, I discovered a Navigators Bible study in the Nima neighborhood. I wasn’t very consistent at that time, but when I got to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), I became very active in the ministry, and I must admit that it actually shaped my faith and value system in a profound way.
So, my orientation about the Christian faith, and how I live today, is mainly shaped by The Navigators. I must also say that this impact goes beyond me. It has affected my marriage, and by God’s grace, 2026 marks 18 years of marriage for us. We have three daughters, and I can say that the survival and strength of our marriage over the last 18 years have been mainly by the grace of God.
I must also acknowledge the role Auntie Aku and Uncle Joe played in our marriage, especially during the period when we used to go to them for couples’ Bible studies some years back. The direction, counsel, and advice they gave us were very integral to our marital journey. All these impacts have had, and are still having, a cascading effect on our children as well.
Interestingly, the gospel we have heard and the value system we have imbibed through our engagement with The Navigators Ghana are the very same values we are intentionally transmitting to our children. We are particularly intentional about teaching them the importance of the consistent study of God’s Word, prayer, and Scripture memorization, among others.
By God’s help, I can say that our children are consistent in their Bible reading, memorizing the TMS, and going beyond that as well. Because they see us practicing these disciplines, they are also committed to doing the same.
So, in summary, I would say that the impact The Navigators Ghana has had on me has been truly transgenerational. It has changed me, it is shaping my children, and I am very sure it will also affect my grandchildren. I am grateful for the missionaries who brought the Navigators ministry to Ghana in 1974. We are part of the fruit of their labor.
In conclusion, that has been the impact of The Navigators Ghana in my life. It has significantly impacted my life, affected my marriage, positively impacted my children, and I am confident it will impact my grandchildren as well.
