Yes, it is true that our motto as a ministry is to “know Christ and make Him known and help others to do the same.” However, this goes beyond spiritual engagement alone. As part of every discipleship relationship, especially with students, there is a strong interest in the holistic development of the student, including their academics. It was against this backdrop that on March 22, 2026, the Takoradi Navigators organized a historic Academic Seminar for final year students of Ahantaman Girls SHS, most of whom are students undergoing discipleship with the Navigators.

The occasion was graced by Harrison Darkwah as the keynote speaker, and Mr. & Mrs. Gyamfi, who also passed by after their visit to Nii Okine, a field staff of the Navigators stationed in Cape Coast. Harrison spoke extensively on the theme: “Charting a career path through course selection in the tertiary level.” He emphasized the importance of students selecting courses based on their interests, passion, and strengths, rather than peer pressure, hearsay, or external influence.

He also made a clear distinction between a career and a job, terms which are often used interchangeably. At the heart of his message was the reminder that God should be the ultimate consultant in every student’s decision-making process, because He alone knows the plans He has for each person (Jeremiah 29:11).

Another key area of discussion was how to handle conflicts that arise when parents choose courses or schools that their children are not interested in. Harrison advised that in such situations, students should respond with patience and honor rather than resistance or confrontation. He encouraged them to pray about the matter and engage their parents in honest, respectful conversations. He further noted that if, after all efforts, parents still insist on their decision, students should be willing to yield, trusting that God is able to work all things together for His purposes in their lives.

The program also featured breakout sessions where students had the opportunity to ask questions, all of which were thoughtfully addressed. During these sessions, students were strongly encouraged to be open-minded and to look beyond the common aspiration of “doctor, lawyer, pilot,” and take advantage of the diverse opportunities God brings their way at different times. In effect, they were challenged to dream as big as possible, with the assurance that God is able to guide and help those who trust in Him.

In conclusion, the students expressed deep appreciation and satisfaction with the seminar and were hopeful that the knowledge gained would significantly guide them as they step into the next chapter of their lives.

A big thank you goes to all the guests, the Admin office for their support, and not forgetting all the dedicated team members of the Takoradi Navigators ministry.
