The women’s ministry in a long time had a beautiful time of fellowship on July 20, 2024. The occasion was graced with women within Ghana and outside the country. The ministry was privileged to have different dignitaries including the former International Vice President of The Navigators, Esther Waruiru from Kenya who talked on the topic “The Role of Women in Advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
To her, the most important thing for every Christian is obeying God and carrying out the Great Commission whether one is a conventional or gift-income worker. She emphasized Romans 16 which gives details about women who played major roles in advancing the Gospel. She added that women must know who they are in Christ and what they have.
Participants were encouraged to pass on studies from bridge illustration, quiet time, the gospel hand, and many others that could help one to grow in Christ. Discovering what you are good at and sharing with others is a way of serving the Lord. It could be shared with family or friends; the most important thing is sharing for someone to be saved.
She continued by saying that putting into practice the Word of God was one thing that attracted her to the Navigators. She believes the Gospel needs to be advanced no matter the cost, and equipping plays a vital role in developing and producing spiritual generations. Spiritual generations never end when the Gospel is passed on. As such, she admonished attendees not to bury what they have been given by God but to invest it well.
During the program, some participants had the opportunity to share their discipleship journeys. Auntie Jemima Jaoko from Kenya shared her story of knowing Christ and making others know Him. She shared how the Navigators helped her in her walk with Christ regarding prayer, Bible study, etc. She also mentioned how she had a burden for God’s work after a Navigators’ conference but hardened her heart to respond to the call. She however responded later and went through two years of training with the Navigators after which she started working with the Navigators and discipling young ones.
Auntie Gerogina Baah-Poku also shared her transformational journey with the people in Sierra Leone. She and the family have a high school ministry that they visit twice every week. There’s also a community bible study where 6 young people have been raised, among others. “All these wouldn’t have been possible if we had not responded to the call”, she said.
Auntie Esther ended her talk using Romans 12: 24 to illustrate that advancing the Gospel is possible if participants let go of themselves and make sacrifices.
There was a breakout session where participants were placed in smaller groups to discuss relevant topics such as purity, parenting, relating with in-laws, managing a career, and keeping a home. There were other things like the breaking of bread, catching up, and beautiful interactions. Part of the program was also the exhibition of different products such as cloth, pieces of jewelry, clothes, and books, among others from women in the ministry.
