This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. 1 John 5:14-15
We asked the Lord, and he heard us by giving us an experience during this year’s youth Camp. Youth Camp, held between the 5th and 8th of September 2024, was an inundating and unforgettable experience, to say the least. Over ninety (90) young people took part in this experience and the theme was the WORD (2 Timothy 3:16-17 and Hebrews 4:12).
Campers were fortunate to have a venerable and experienced speaker, Mr. Kofi Osew, who spoke extensively on the theme each day and challenged them to apply the Word daily to their lives. He didn’t mince words when he said that if spending time with God is as important to campers as they perceive their jobs, and schooling, among others, they will make time for it. He indicated that the Word of God must dwell richly in their hearts and minds, as the Bible says in Colossians 3:16.
God expects every Christian to master the Word. He emphasized that to be a true disciple means to abide in the Word, and campers must have the mindset of Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5). He added that the love of God is perfected in believers only if they walk in obedience to the Word of God. Mr. Osew also touched on the Word Hand tool, which emphasizes hearing, reading, studying, memorizing, and meditating as different ways to take in the Word of God.
The speaker remarked that believers sometimes push Jesus away through their lifestyles, but he stands at the door of everyone’s heart to be received back (Revelation 3:20). Believers can enrich their fellowship with God, the Holy Spirit, and their prayer language as they memorize the scripture, he said. Campers were also made to understand that the ability to deal with the devil is tied to how much language or word they have at heart.
As part of the program, campers engaged in other spiritual and fun-filled activities such as community evangelism, topical memory system (TMS) review challenges, and musical chairs, among other forms of socialization. Campers left the program fully equipped and ready to apply the lessons to their lives, and to help others do same.
At the end of the program, campers who were not being discipled had the chance to be assigned to Navigators to help them grow and mature in the Lord.
Continue to pray that every camper will be strengthened to start applying the lessons immediately to their lives and also teach others.
Also, pray against every form of wordily destruction capable of thwarting the efforts of these young ones as they seek to grow in their word intake.
