I was introduced to The Navigators Ghana by my sister the moment I stepped onto the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology campus. My relationship with the group was somewhat distant initially; I would show up occasionally. I also had the opportunity to participate in rural missions, attend 5F’s meetings while on campus, and engage in the Transition Ministry after completing university.

I don’t think I was truly committed back then. I felt the standards were too high to attain, and I believed I had to meet those standards before I could belong. However, I realize now that God had a plan for me all along. During difficult and challenging moments, you either draw close to God or sink deeper into self-denial.

“Therefore, He is able to save completely those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede for them.” — Hebrews 7:25 (BSB)

I chose to draw close to God, regardless of the standards that seemed unattainable to me. And as I did, I found that it was God Himself who was working in me to will and to do His good purpose.

Through this ministry, I’ve found the space and encouragement to grow deeper in my walk with God. It has helped me to become more consistent in spiritual practices such as Bible study, prayer, and fellowship. Over the years, I learned that I didn’t necessarily need devotional guides like Our Daily Bread or Daily Guide to have my quiet time; instead, I needed to encounter the Word of God for myself and allow it to transform me, rather than depending solely on someone else’s interpretation.

The Navigators also helped me build a more structured prayer life, teaching me the value of consistency and intimacy in prayer. This community made everything simpler and genuine; I always feel at home because there’s no pressure to “keep up an appearance.” Instead, there’s an atmosphere of grace, growth, and authenticity.

Today, I’m deeply grateful to God for The Navigators ministry, especially for the opportunity to reach the lost through rural and urban missions, and for the privilege of making small contributions that go a long way to impact many lives. It’s been a journey of grace, growth, and renewed purpose.
