“God owns the land, silver, gold, and people on the earth. Therefore, I will ask people specifically for my ministry needs.” This was Edith Carta-Williams’ conviction after the four days of impactful and transformative Ministry Partner Development (MPD) held at Abokobi in Accra. Describing the training as just successful would be an understatement because the convictions built by participants will be for a lifetime.

It’s true that without funds, any vision for ministry will to be a mirage. The statement underscores the power of funds in advancing the kingdom of God into the nations. Yet, all through the scriptures, it is amazing how God has funded the work of his kingdom using different kinds of persons. From using ordinary people who had no material possessions to using wealthy people.  All this points to the fact that God is indeed the source of all, Romans 8:32, 1 Chronicles 29:1-20.

From the 30th of January to the 2nd of February 2025, Navigators of Ghana recorded the highest number of participants for the first time at its annual MPD training. The high number of participants is a testament to the fact that we are ready to break camp and advance Deuteronomy 1:6-8. God spoke to the ministry during our 50th anniversary in July 2024 that we have stayed long enough at the mountain, and it is time to break camp and advance and take possession of the lands he promised us.

One key focus of this year’s training was for all key leaders and laborers to build convictions about the biblical foundation to raise ministry partners. This is crucial because deep conviction that MPD is biblical will encourage any missionary to believe that God will provide as he or she steps out in faith.

Funding has been a big elephant that has sat and impeded the impact of the ministry for decades, and hence, needs to be faced head-on if only the ministry is to break camp and advance. Thankfully, through the different Bible studies and talk sessions on the accounts of “fund development” from both the Old and New Testament (Numbers 18:21-24, Matthew 10:5-14, Luke 8:1-3, Acts 18:1-5, Romans 15:20-24), all participants became convinced that raising financial support is biblical. Not only that, it was also realized that having a clear calling often helps laborers find the courage to raise financial support. Other lessons for participants were the fact that giving is an act of worship, it shows that the giver acknowledges that God is the provider and he or she is only a steward.

During the four days, participants had the opportunity to reflect and write down their specific callings and stakes, as they relate to the Navigators’ calling and God’s bigger plan. The different practical sessions of crafting individual callings, booking an MPD appointment, and eventually sharing your calling and vision with potential partners made a huge difference. It allowed peer learning and addressed the questions of “how” and “when” in MPD.

As the training wrapped up on Sunday morning, participants had taken bold steps to book 78 appointments with potential donors to be executed in the coming week. If not for anything, that action alone speaks volumes of the impact of the training and the ministry’s readiness to defeat this big elephant (funding challenge). This training is historic because for decades, the challenge of funding has loomed large, but this year’s MPD training marked a turning point. Participants walked away not just inspired but fully convinced that raising ministry partners is biblical and they are ready to act. As we take the bull by the horns, we are fully convinced that God has the power to do what he has promised.

A special thank you goes to our resource persons, Mr. Emeka Ohahuru and his dear wife Bilhatu from Nigeria, for their consistency, dedication, and commitment to developing laborers to raise full support for their callings. We also invite you reading this update, to prayerfully consider becoming a partaker of what God is doing through the ministry of The Navigators in Ghana.
