David addressed the heads of the Levitical families, saying, “You and your relatives must consecrate yourselves so that you may bring the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel, to the place I have prepared for it. It was because you Levites were not with us the first time that the LORD our God burst forth in anger against us. We did not consult Him regarding the proper order” (1 Chronicles 15:12-13, BSB).
This scripture highlights the reasons behind Israel’s major failure during their initial attempt to restore the ark of God to its rightful place. They failed to seek God’s guidance for the correct way to carry the ark, and the Levites were absent during that first attempt. The lack of the Levites’ involvement meant that the matter of consecration was overlooked, which led to God’s anger bursting forth.
If you have not fully offered yourself as the Lord asks us to do through the Apostle Paul in Romans 12, verse 1, or if your consecration is incomplete or flawed, then even your most dependable thoughts can become extremely unreliable. Faulty consecration leads to misguided judgment. Our Lord’s teachings on the mount clearly emphasize the necessity of being absolute in our service to God.
Ephesians 5:9-10 (KJV) reminds us, “For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth; proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.”
As disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, we are called to abide in Him as our source of wisdom in all aspects of our daily lives. Since our bodies are His temple, every aspect of our lives should aim to glorify Him. It is crucial to our Lord Jesus Christ that our earthly concerns are guided correctly. We should trust in His compassion, believe in His love, and earnestly seek His guidance, which He genuinely desires to provide us.
