As I sat on the staircase at the doorway in the evening, sipping on a cup of ginger tea, I gazed at the horizon. The fast-moving clouds caught my attention. The lofty, fast-moving white clouds in the dark blue sky were being carried across the face of the earth speedily by the wind as the earth gently rotated on its axis. This drew my attention to how quickly time was passing by since the concept of a day is determined by the time the Earth takes to rotate once on its axis. I pondered on His promptness and perfection, who is in charge of all of this perfect design.
Our lives are so dependent on many divine variables that subtly dictate the big picture of our lives. How often do we pay attention to these divine variables? In moments of need, these divine variables speak louder, guiding us to align with divine guidance and providence. They beckon our attention and strive to lead us to blessed assurances. Our cluelessness about time slipping away comes from losing touch with these divine variables and our essence, nature, and revelation.
Our sense of time and our ability to take charge are directly related to our connection to the source of life and wisdom. Our senses play a vital role in influencing our being and growth as we interact with the Father, nature, and revelation. However, we often misuse our senses by yielding them to self-gratifying pleasures, passions, and desires. Our senses, including seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, and smelling, are gifts to enhance our growth in the personality of Christ. When we consistently give in to inordinate passions and reject the promptings of grace, it becomes difficult to change our course in moments of extremity.
The power of focus can help us gain a new perspective on our fears and challenges. It’s important to be intentional with our senses if we want to change our minds. Our senses are the doorway to the mind. Our senses should be focused on the love of the Father, the graces of Christ, the beauty of holiness, and the perfection of purity. Keeping our minds on the Lord and his promises is the key to redeeming our time and taking charge. We should focus on nothing but his glory, his blessed promises, and his loving and life-giving presence.
